Here&#8217;s everything you need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What you need<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A WordPress site (6.0 or newer) with PHP 7.4 or newer<\/li>\n\n\n<li>WooCommerce, to sell entries (the map and leaderboard work without it)<\/li>\n\n\n<li>A way to take payments in WooCommerce (card, PayPal, bank transfer\u2026)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Install the plugin<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Download the plugin zip from the <a href=\"\/balloonrace\/download\/\">Download page<\/a>, then in WordPress go to <strong>Plugins \u2192 Add New Plugin \u2192 Upload Plugin<\/strong>, choose the zip and activate it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The plugin creates a <strong>Balloon Race<\/strong> page (the live map, team standings, leaderboard and race list) and a ready-to-sell <strong>Balloon Race Entry<\/strong> product at \u00a33. Change the product&#8217;s name, price and picture like any product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Try the demo race<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Go to <strong>Balloon Race \u2192 Settings \u2192 Demo race<\/strong> and click <strong>Create a demo race<\/strong> to see a race in action with 30 made-up balloons. Remove it from the same place when you&#8217;re done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Choose your settings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Flight mode:<\/strong> Drift (true to life), Soar (the default) or Jetstream (maximum distance). Settings shows how far the leader typically gets.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Automatic updates:<\/strong> how often balloons move, from every 5 minutes to daily.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Shop add-ons:<\/strong> prices for tactical helium strategies, custom launch points and logo uploads.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Teams<\/strong> (optional): houses, classes or groups, with team standings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Create your race<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Balloon Race \u2192 Races \u2192 Add race<\/strong>: give it a name, when entries open, the launch time, an optional end time and the launch point (search for a place or click the map). You can also set an <strong>entry limit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Sell entries<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Share your shop&#8217;s Balloon Race Entry page. Buyers see a live preview of their balloon as they choose its name, colour and logo. Entries can only be bought while your race is taking entries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. Race day<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Balloons launch at the launch time, or press <strong>Launch now<\/strong>. Everyone with a balloon is emailed a link to track it.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Share your Balloon Race page: supporters can follow the map, search the leaderboard and see their own balloons.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Refunded or cancelled orders take their balloons out of the race automatically.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7. The finish<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the end time (or <strong>Finish now<\/strong>), balloons stop and the leaderboard is final.
